Call For Entry - The Winter Salon at Canal Street Art Gallery

Canal Street Art Gallery presents: the Winter Salon group show, a three month long exhibition, rotating monthly and giving artists the chance to show for one, two, or three months. The Winter Salon runs December 18th through March 14th. Opening receptions for the artists are held from 5pm to 7pm on Bellows Falls 3rd Friday December 18th, January 15th, and February 19th. All gallery events are free and open to the public, for wheelchair accessibility call 802-289-0104. 

The popular Salon style show closely installs art on each wall from floor-to-ceiling, interspersing sizes and artists throughout the exhibit. The opportunity to exhibit in the Winter Salon at Canal Street Art Gallery is open to the public. The show's mission is to include art created by artists from all career levels and forms of study, and to promote art-making as a daily practice. 

This Salon show introduces a new exhibition fee and commission structure based on the size of each artwork. Artists pay a few pennies per square inch to exhibit, and a couple of dimes per square inch as commission on sales. This provides the artist with a set amount of money paid to the gallery which is not dependent on the sale price, and is dependent on what size and how many artworks the artist wishes to show. The gallery hopes this will provide affordable ways for artists to exhibit, sell their work, and motivate a monthly turnaround over a three month period for both viewers and the artists.

Exhibition Requirements For All Shows

• Original artworks, created by the artist, must be submitted.
• All artwork must be for sale.
• Two-dimensional work must be wired to hang, framed, or otherwise ready to install.
• Three-dimensional work must be delivered with any necessary stands or bases.
• Jewelry must be delivered with displays, individually packed.
• Include any special handling or installation instructions.
